Dr. Archie Chonn

Arcadio Chonn, Ph.D., is the President and CEO, Director and co-founder of AIMS.   Prior to AIMS, Dr. Chonn was involved in venture capital, as the Western Canada Investment Manager for University Medical Discoveries Inc. (UMDI), the seed stage venture fund of MDS Capital Corp.; and as a consultant to Galiano Ventures Inc., and Royal Bank of Canada Capital Corp.   

Over the past fifteen years, he has been involved with the start-up of several biotechnology companies, including Inex Pharmaceuticals of Vancouver, British Columbia, where he was the Project Manager, Gene Therapy; and Illumigen Biosciences of Seattle, Washington, where he was Vice-President, Development.  

Dr. Chonn also acted as an Advisor to his UMDI portfolio companies, including NeuroStream Technologies, SalPep Biotechnologies, and Welichem Biotechnologies.   Dr. Chonn received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of British Columbia in 1990 and his postdoctoral training in molecular biology and in functional genomics from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.
