Dr. Richard Oleschuk
Richard Oleschuk obtained his Ph.D. Degree in analytical chemistry from the University of Manitoba in 1998. His research involved the development of polymer-based extraction methods for metal complexes, and polymeric membrane sample preparation for the MS where he co-authored papers with Drs. Arthur Chow, Helene Perrault and Ken Standing.
He then spent two years as an NSERC post doctoral fellow (1998-2000) at the University of Alberta with D. J. Harrison where he worked on microfluidic devices that incorporate functionalised micro-spheres for solid phase extraction and electrochromatography.
Richard then joined Queen ’s University in 2000 and is currently an associate professor in the Department of Chemistry. Richard’s current interests are in the development of polymeric microfluidic systems. His laboratory is investigating polymer surface modification strategies to enhance micro device performance as well as developing novel strategies to couple microfluidic devices with mass spectrometry.
